How do I get started?

  • Getting started is easy! The first step is to schedule an introductory lesson with one of our trained instructors. During that lesson, your instructor will guide you and recommend an appropriate course for you to continue depending on your dance goal. How do I join the Group Classes?

I’m getting ready for my wedding how do I get started and how soon should I start?

  • If you’re a beginner we recommend doing at least 1 private lesson before your first group class so you know some of the basic foot positions and how to hold your partner. This will make your first group class more enjoyable and less overwhelming. After your first lesson most of our group classes are all beginner friendly, unless labeled advanced or intermediate on the calendar. You do not have to sign up in advance, if you are doing a drop in class just be sure to come a few minutes early to pay for the class and sign up. Students taking a minimum of 2 private lessons a month have unlimited access to our group classes. Drop ins are $15 per person every time.

  • Call or text us at 859-371-1151 to set up your introductory lesson and consultation. Our trained instructor will listen to your wedding song and start showing you dancing basics while brainstorming ideas with you on the perfect wedding dance! How many lessons you will need depends on a number of factors such as how fast do you learn, what your dance is, and how proficient you wish to be in that dance. After the introductory lesson your instructor will help guide you on what to do next!

We recommend starting at least 6 months earlier to allow more time for practice, especially if you are a newcomer to dancing. Remember that as your wedding day approaches your schedule will get very hectic and you wont have enough time to practice so it can become stressful. *Helpful wedding tip. Wear your heals, dress shoes, or whatever shoes you are wearing on the big night to practice in! You need to get a feel of how your shoes feel and how easy they are to dance in!

Do I need a partner?

  • Nope! No partner is required for any of our classes. In a private lesson you will dance with the instructor. In the group classes we pair up and rotate partners frequently so there is always someone to dance with!

What do I wear and do I need dance shoes?

  • For clothing, wear anything comfortable that you can easily move in. For shoes, in the beginning we recommend something comfortable, that will stay on your foot, and not grip the floor too much. No flip flops, slides, platform heals, or work boots as wearing inappropriate shoes can result in injury. Once you decide to keep dancing we recommend buying a pair of dance shoes. There are many different styles so your instructor can help recommend what to buy.

How long/how many lessons will it take to become a good dancer?

  • Every person is different and every persons definition of a “good dancer” is different! It depends on your how fast you learn, how many dances you want to learn and how proficient you wish to become in each dance. After you take a couple of lessons you can better gauge this.

What is the age range for your classes?

  • Our group classes and practice sessions are for adults/young adults. Private lessons are for ages 6 and up. Just give us a call and we can help recommend what would be best for you!

Do I need to sign up in advance for classes?

  • Private lessons must be scheduled in advanced since that time is specifically blocked out for you. Group classes you do not have to sign up in advance.

How much do lessons cost?

  • Tuition varies depending on a number of factors, such as how good you want to be and what dances you want to learn. After your introductory lesson, your instructor will recommend the best program for you and will be able to answer any questions!
